EEC Saturday Afternoon Challenge Season 3+4
The EEC Saturday Afternoon Challenge is new on EEC since November 2015. So far we ran this:
StockCar V8 with a "2 in 1" Race Format, so one race splitted into two parts by Safety Car.
Mini Challenge with 4 Supersprint Races
Now we move on with the EEC CART Mod which has been improved to allow some great oval racing. To help everyone to learn oval racing, we do it in stages, but we run on other tracks as well.
The series is already running. Last saturday we were running the Rio 300k at Jacarepagua Oval, a very unusual oval with a good beginning. We had many very close fights.
Next Race now is the EEC CART Airport Challenge at Edmonton City Airport Track. This will be a tricky one.
On 20.2. we will move on at Chicagoland Speedway, but not just speedway racing. It's pack racing we're forcing by taking the short oval chassis. 150 Laps are expected
After this on 5.3. we head on at Road America, a pure classic event, not much to say about.
On 19.3. we prepare for our highspeed final round at Kentucky International Speedway with the Speedway Kit. Topspeeds beyond 370 km/h are expected, completely different to Chicagoland Speedway.
And our final will be on 2.4. at Fontana with a 100 Lap event. We're not taking the Handford-Device, we're opening up to reach highest topspeeds. In the draft up to 415 km/h.
So some very interesting in this Season 3 about to come. You can bring own skins as well. Engines have been equalized, same for tires.
Season 4 will start soon as well. It will be a series of 6 races between the CART Series with the Marcas, running 2x 20 minute races.
Tracks will be:
Jerez
Adelaide
Hockenheim Classic
Brands Hatch GP
Okayama
Macau
Here you can take own skins as well, just deliver them in time.
Times are this:
Official Practice always starts at: 15:00
Race starts at: 16:00
All times are CET or UTC+1.

Thanks Uli for the information. Ovals seem so easy but it is far from the truth !!!

Yeah, it is indeed something very different. That's why we started on Jacarepagua which is more a hybrid of road course and oval just to learn this type of racing. Next ovals will be easier.
btw: Uploading right now a video of the strongest 10 laps between 2 cautions with a big 3-way fight for the lead. So much fun to watch it.
So the potential is amazing if everyone knows how to do it.

Re: EEC Saturday Afternoon Challenge Season 3+4
We have tried ovals a few times and it's MUCH harder than it looks! Great fun though.
I hope some of the guys drive with you. I will see what I can do.

Re: EEC Saturday Afternoon Challenge Season 3+4
We have tried it as well before and it didn't work well for us too. But we found out that it was because of the drafting effects.
First time we ran at Fontana with the 1998 CART and the problem was that you lost too much downforce and the car got unstable.
The second time we ran at Indy with the 2007 cars but we got bump drafting. A pure nightmare.
One of our members didn't want to give up and put in a lot of work in the the CART 1998 mod to solve the problems for much better drafting.
The effect is a lot more realistic and you get understeer instead of an unstable car in the draft. At Rio of course you didn't notice it that much, but it was already notable.
I'm also offering for ovals some base setups which work on low and high fuel, giving a base that is already good enough for a strong pace.
That makes it a lot easier for everyone.
We do this season as a test season and we're giving all support that is needed. It depends on each driver to make it a good one and I'm sure the way we're going will allow us in future some great oval events, probably some real 500 mile races. But that will take some time until we get there.
So everyone feel free to join and to learn. The video is almost uploaded to give a nice impression from Rio.

Re: EEC Saturday Afternoon Challenge Season 3+4
First Race of our Saturday Afternoon CART League with a 3-way fight for the lead.
In the red and green Patrick Racing car is me, the Target Chip Ganassi Car is Kevin Siclari and the third silver and black Spartan car is Otto Wilson. Me and Kevin had that fight all race long. This one is between the first and second caution period of the race.
