SGT500 CHALLENGE SPIELBERG 30 DEC

We will run a Challenge Race with the SGT500 cars at SPIELBERG (DEFAULT TRACK) on Tuesday 30rd Dec.

2x18 lap races with pit stop.
Usual league rules apply and just have fun guys.

Good fun thanks for the races

After spending most of Monday afternoon driving the BAC Mono in the incredible simulators at Simtech (Thanks Marcel and Steve ) I saw this race was on and "quickly" downloaded an purchased GSCE - I managed to get some time on the server in the afternoon to get used to the car and then joined up last night to find I wasn't too far off the pace.

Race 1 was going ok, in the first part of the race I was right behind Gert and was able to stay with him overall with me being slightly more consistent all through the lap until a wheel over the curb in T2 saw me spin and have to wait for most of the field to go past before rejoining - from there to the end I was pushing hard to try and salvage something and managed to get back to 5th place, I think, but I was quite lucky that the race was only 14 laps as Reinhard was catching me fast at the end - I was still learning the car at the end of the race, hehe.

Race 2 I got a great start and some good fortune saw me gifted 2nd place - I was driving as fast as I could and was just about hanging onto Christo - unfortunately I was driving slightly above my ability and when Reinhard started to catch me I pushed a bit harder only to miss my braking point into T3 - I almost got back onto the track but got stuck in the sand - It was great fun to watch the rest of the race from the pits - the battle for 4th place was amazing with 4 guys in a bunch right at the end.

Thanks Kevin, it was a fun evening and well done to Christo and Reinhard for the wins.

Only at 7 did I decide that I was gonna do this race last night. I did expect to have the pace. I just got faster & faster as the night went on. Reinhard was very fast. WOW you guys are gonna have it tuff in the season with him.


Race 1
Q 3 P 3
Had a slow start to the race, cause my first gear was to long. Lost some ground at the start. I just kept it steady to get 3rd place in the race.

Race 2
Q 3 P 3
Again had a slow start & lost a bit of ground. But again I just kept in on the grey stuff in the beginning to stay in the hunt.
Reinhard lost more ground at the start then what I did. He was very fast & caught up to me in the race. I could only keep him behind me for about 2 laps. After that it was just a case of keeping it on the grey stuff. As Chris said he missed his breaking point & that gifted me 3rd place in the race. I can't say I would have caught him, He had good pace in the race, but that is racing. I made some small mistakes in the race that cost me a bit of time going of the track. I managed to hang onto 3rd place.

WD to Reinhard & Chris for racing with us last night. Field is only getting bigger. You guys are gonna have mighty battles in season 1.

I can just see it already. Reinhard, Chris, Denis, Christo, Razor, Migs etc. It is gonna be tuff racing.

WD to all the guys last night, & good luck to you in the new season with these cars.

It was a nice surprise to see you joining in on the fun, Chris. It's been a long time since we were last on a virtual track together, but my absence from sim racing is to blame for that.
That was unfortunate getting beached. You were flying considering new(ish) sim and first time in anything other than the Mono's.

I did have one funny incident.  During my pitstop a car behind shunted me right into the garage of the spot ahead of me, which was filled with a car being serviced.  I had to very carefully reverse out and drive past on the inside, between the pitted car and its garage.  It must have been very confusing for that person to see a car exiting pits out if its right hand window - probably thinking "what kind of noob are the allowing on the servers:  

Nobody got hurt in that incident so chalk that one up for the storyboards...

That was me you overtook in the pits steve.
I knew you had nowhere else to go, so it was all cool. Some of the tracks have pits that give you no room to move if you pit same time as someone else.
Thank you all for taking part last night and I can see an EPIC season ahead starting next Wednesday. The driving is getting better and faster every week (And I'm dropping further back! ).

The thread is posted quite a few days before the event takes place. That's why we have a "Next Event" thread.
I can't phone every driver in the league to remind them to race.
Check the forum from time to time.
