Re: FORMULA REIZA 2015 ROUND 2 on 18th JULY
Great evening once again.
Thank you to all the drivers that took part.
Didn't trust the medium tires, so was a LOT slower than I would have liked. Rather lonely race but I will take the few points.
Well done again to Denis who drove like a demon .....Just gets faster by the day. Come on guys, he needs a challenge!!!
See you all next week at Silverstone.

The view from behind
An extract from a backmarkers diary
After a very disappointing first race in Australia, I spent more time in preparation for this race, as I vowed to at least try and put up some sort of a fight in Bahrain.
I saw everyone changing to supersofts in the pit during warm-up and knew that fast times will be the order of the day, and I wasn’t wrong with Denis Mitchell doing a blistering 1:28.625 followed by Gert Snyman at 1:30.205 and Alastair nipping at his heals at 1:30.751, notably only those three drivers managed qualifying times under 1:31, as for me I had some confidence problems and only managed 2:00 which saw me at the back of the grid for the start of one of my favorite tracks.
I made some adjustments to my race fuel load, as I knew with the front runners pace, the chances of me doing the full 38 laps was almost zero.
Standing on the grid, I said my little prayer again, something I’m doing more and more, after a very indifferent year for me spiritually, I open my eyes the lights start, I’m nervous but ready for action.
Slow off the line, I start to accelerate, only to hit the breaks way early for turn one, expecting a melee of cars, I managed to get through, and was heading to turn three.
At this point I’m thinking how far ahead the front runners are, and that I never get lapped on the first lap of a race.
After putting in a few very good laps with fuel load, I made my first error of the day, trying to stick on someone’s tailpipe is not as easy as those aliens make it look.
Coming out of the hairpin I had the line and the pace, and was a ball hair away from knocking the guy in front of me, so I hit the wheel hard left to try and avoid an accident, with this I manage to loose my front wing on the wall, and had to go pit.
From there it was just me on the road for awhile, other than the speed merchants coming past me, with me looking like an old fart on the N1, giving way for those quick young guys in the Mercs and Beemers.
It felt like I had to pit 3 laps from the end, as I was not overly confident in what was left in my Soft tyres and the fact that Chad was on my trumpet, last thing I wanted was for a spin and another bad finish without points, so signaled the pit boss that I WILL be coming in and will sacrifice the spot to Chad, I’m sure he would’ve had me anyhow.
At the end of it all, I’m happy that I improved from last week and happy that I managed a 1:34.957 as my quickest lap in the race.
Again I think to myself one day when I'm big, I will drive like Denis, Gert, Alastair.

Well written Hennie, gave you some Points for that!
By the way, it was me in front of you, saw you in my mirrors and couldn't do anything about it.
On the whole, I thinks all the drivers were better behaved this time round, with just a few mishaps here and there. No incidents were reported after the race and we can't take action if you don't report it......
Silverstone will be even quicker as the guys are used to the cars more and more every week.
Great fun though.
Have to thank my Team Mate for a good drive and keeping us third in the team standings.
