Re: MARCAS CHALLENGE ROUND 2 PHILLIP ISLAND 3 JUNE
A few drivers are having a problem loading the track....
Here's what you do
Unzip the file to desktop, open the folder until you see PhillipIsland2013.
Put THAT folder in your locations.
Some tracks require you also need these:
http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/patch-files-for-watkins-glen-or-other-tracks.2320/download?version=3411
Paste them into your locations folder, overwrite if asked.

Re: MARCAS CHALLENGE ROUND 2 PHILLIP ISLAND 3 JUNE
Thanks guys for another awesome race!
Race 1 qualified 5th and had an average start just hanging behind the top 4 for a few laps, but then I made a mistake (one of many ) and lost quite a few places.
Had nice battles with Razor and Pete and ultimately finished a lucky 6th, but more important, I had ALOT of fun and the racing was intense from the first lap to the last!
Race2 my pc froze at the end of warm-up, so I tried to re-join asap but the session already started
Sorry again Shawn and Pete for the bumps from behind, but I'm sure you will all agree that it's nearly impossible to not be involved in some sort of a scuffle with these cars.
Hope the admins will show us all some mercy

Re: MARCAS CHALLENGE ROUND 2 PHILLIP ISLAND 3 JUNE
Another mixed evening....
Got disconnected during the first race which kind of sets the tone for the rest of the evening.
Race 2:
Qualified at the back but I wasn't too worried as the race pace was about what I did in practice. From 18th to 13 till my pit stop which went really smooth at 9 seconds with fuel added. Finished the race in 14th though. Caught by Dirk on the last lap and VERY brave move by him to take the inside so tight saw him pass me.
I did notice however, there was some very aggressive driving going on. I know there is bound to be a bit of bumping with these cars, but the drivers should read the rules and abide by them. CLEAN RACING!!!
Penalties will be given guys. We are all trying to do well here, but at the same time we expect you to drive with the other drivers in mind.
I am not threatening anybody, just remember you have been warned and don't get upset if you receive penalties for bad driving.
NO WEAVING
NO EARLY BRAKING----Brake testing. (This is cheating).
NO PUSHING OTHER CARS OFF TRACK--EVER!
You know the rules. Read them again if you have to.
Thank you for all taking part and see you next week.

Re: MARCAS CHALLENGE ROUND 2 PHILLIP ISLAND 3 JUNE
Zero. The number of points I got out of this event. And also a good indication of how much I enjoyed this car & track combo. Please understand: this is not meant as criticism on the league admin's choice of track. Of course there will -and should!- be a mixture of tracks some guys enjoy and other don't. This one was simply the latter for me. Nothing more, nothing less.
Race 1:
Qualified 10th. Made it up to 7th, mostly through other people's misfortunes. Spun on lap 3. Down to 12th. Made it back up to 9th, having a nice dice on lap 7 - with some (mostly) fun bumping and barging - with Gus, got nicely up his inside through the last corner, with a slightly better run down the straight ...BAM! Blue screen. Was I ever peeved...
Race 2:
Qualified 13th. Â Made up 1 position but outbraked myself on lap 1 into Honda corner (T4) while in the pack and being unsighted because of the unnatural amount of tyres smoke for some reason on this track. Note to self: see if this can be turned off in graphics settings. Anyway, I had to take avoiding action in order not to slam into the back of the guys ahead so I went across the inside of the hairpin, and immediately got a stop/go penalty for cutting the track. Served the penalty on lap 2, and emerged 25s behind the 2nd last driver. Just did the best I can from there, ending up in 14th after all the pitstops and catching Kevin. Â Caught up to him in the last corner on lap 16, but then the slipstream effect made me lose downforce and I went wide, losing another 9 seconds. Â Got my head down and caught up to Kevin again on the last lap and lunged up the inside of one of the tight corners for what was probably a bit of a harsh block-pass. Sorry, Kev. It was borne out of pure frustration!
Good bye Philip Island, and good riddance. Hoping to be able to challenge for some points and some closer racing next time!

Re: MARCAS CHALLENGE ROUND 2 PHILLIP ISLAND 3 JUNE
What an awesome but tricky track to manage quick times. While practicing I never thought I would be doing 1:41's, but after approaching the corners differently I ended up with a 1:41:5, good enough to be running with Ryan and Denis and well the front runners. Fraser also went very well here, wd man.
Race 1: Everything that could go wrong went wrong for me. I got a drive through penalty for speeding in the pit lane and then discovered I do not have enough fuel in my car to finish the race - even though I had 80 litres in the tank on the grid. My mechanics first remove all fuel left in my tank when I pitted before they top up again. I tested this after the races and with the help of Denis found an entry in the player file to be wrong. With this fixed now I should be good for future races. With 3 pit stops I could only manage 9th overall.
Race 2: After adding even more fuel I at least could finish the race without watching the fuel gauge all the time. Finished a good second in the end.
WD to everyone who entered the race. It seems consistency is going to play a big part in this championship as one car gain or loose a lot of points. See you all at the next round.
The next round I believe will take place at Algarve-Portimao. Another tricky and longer track with times of around 1:54 seconds. Track will be available later today for download as practicing here is critical for good times.

Re: MARCAS CHALLENGE ROUND 2 PHILLIP ISLAND 3 JUNE
I liked the track and what challenges it presents you.
But...as Dirk said, not all tracks suit all drivers and again not scoring any points, the only consolation was me managing to do :42's in the race, which I so long battled to do.
Thanks to all
Onto the next one.

Re: MARCAS CHALLENGE ROUND 2 PHILLIP ISLAND 3 JUNE
Yes Ken, it's really a pity you went home empty handed after this one. If anybody deserved to do well it was you ...you really put in the hard yards to prepare for this one, doing by far the most practice laps of anybody when I last checked. But congrats on the :42's. It's no mean feat on this track. And no practice is ever in vain; if it didn't necessarily yield results on this particular track, it's still practice in getting to grips with the car and I bet it will pay off in future events.
Well done.
Well done.

Re: MARCAS CHALLENGE ROUND 2 PHILLIP ISLAND 3 JUNE
A track i love...usually! In these cars though it was very difficult to get the balance right but it was a challenge. Qualifying never quite went to plan and just could not piece together a good lap.
Races went up and down...some good dicing but also some questionable driving tactics i hope we dont see again so onwards to the next round.
Congrats to Ryan though, excellent races and keeping it all good and clean. Some good fun racing there changing places back and forward. Well deserved double win.
Big thanks you to Shadow Racing for hosting this event!

Re: MARCAS CHALLENGE ROUND 2 PHILLIP ISLAND 3 JUNE
Weaving side to side down the straight is not clean, something you did when i was behind you Patrik. You moved 4 times on 1 lap on the main straight, rules of racing say more than once is not allowed.
Re: MARCAS CHALLENGE ROUND 2 PHILLIP ISLAND 3 JUNE
Cool thanks Patrik. Sometimes it sucks being passed on the straights when you know you faster, but thats what makes it fun, is the battle with the cars around you.
Always play the long game in racing...think of the finish not the lap you on!
