Project Cars Empty Project Cars

Post by SteynTheBull 11th May 2015, 09:03

Hi all

Hope all is good in the life of sim racing?

I went out this weekend to pick up my copies of Project Cars on Pc and PS4.
On the PS4 I don't have a wheel yet that is supported on it but, working on that.
But the copy for pc with my wheel all I can say is WOW!!!
Only had a bit of time on Sunday to sit with the game and impressed with the complete game.

This is really a sim racing game that was worth the wait.
The visual side of things really impressed.
Tracks true to real life counterparts.
A good selection of cars and tracks to race on.
Career mode detailed.

Car physics impressive.
I must say allot of time went into project cars the depth of setup unmatched.

I can say if you do have time to sit and work with it one of the best ever sim racing games out there.

So go and check it out

Project Cars Empty Re: Project Cars

Post by Denis Mitchell 11th May 2015, 10:35

Howzit.

Thanks to Chad i have been able to extensively test Pcars out.

I got on the game expecting excellent mind blowing graphics and terrible physics. Well, graphics are good, up there with the best for sure but not mind blowing as i expected, and the physics..well they were not terrible in fact some cars are pretty good fun to drive like the GT3 cars. Some tracks are very good, not laser scanned but good and some are a little off the real tracks. Tried the Barcelona challenge yesterday and that track seemed a little off.

To me its a good game, and in some cars sim and other arcade. I do think the quality varies depending on the cars you drive. Driving the AI, well dont bother there, if you not tried try a race with 29 cars and start from last at Oschesleben and have a good laugh every first corner at what the AI do.

My opinion, its a good Forza replacement, not quite good enough to replace Assetto Corsa and most certainly not a GSCE replacement. It is a fun game though, more so than i had expected but its not perfect it has many flaws and is not well polished in many areas...like triple screen support. Sounds are very nice i think.

So depending on the cars you like to drive, and if you want online, solo or AI driving might sway your view one way or the other. Its a step up from the Shift series if you added the community physics mods. For me i feel its not quite good enough, but i do still find some things great like its weather, pit crew animations and small things like that.

Certainly worth checking out for some fun and who knows, might appeal more or less depending on your likes.

I did buy a key some time ago. Hopefully I will do a few laps in the next few weeks. At least found a place to do the download of the game this week.

Definitely worth trying Gert. We going to see what it takes to run a server, maybe we get a fun server up for the guys to muck about on!

Experiences vary greatly depending on hardware too, ie wheels, graphics and so on. If you on AMD graphics its a waste of time as its not well optimized for AMD at all.

For Thrustmaster users - a must read/watch for setting your FFB
or any one else - also bear in mind that there are about 60 or so carious FFB settings scattered around - including having to setup per car FFB - some cars are good some not so.
I'm running a T500 and Grid Auotsport seems to have better FFB - but will carry on trying .

I'm waiting a while to see how things go with this game.
As far as I know, most of our guys use ATI.

great racegame this is, after you have enough time to justage the very much FFB effect to your like, which take lot of time, but make a massive different in how the cars do feel.
but sadly, you have to justage for every car the FFB effect.

you can make a main, general FFB effect justage and you have another option to setup FFB for every car, so many time this cost, but make a totaly different feeling.

GT3 cars realy good to drive, grafic is top, a little better then AC, sound is better then AC too and the grafic if time do change is realy bombastic, i had yesterday lots of fun in a GT3 race with Z4 in dubai (my favourite track in GTR2) with 19AI cars and fast changing daytime.

online is close racing better then in AC, but it looks like there a technical problems in online server things, if any things will become fixed it is realy top racegame, but i am not sure if this will happen,
AC is now 1.5 years out and over 1 year online racing is possible, and still have big big problems (especialy online), so i fear any problems will always be in pcars (and AC).

I got it working last night. Did a few laps on Brandshatch & Bathurts.

On Brands I got 45-60 FPS so not to bad. It still looks very good. what I do find when driving is that I was able judge the corners better, cause I can see them better. I did drop a few settings to try & make it run as smooth as possible. Will play with the setings a bit more to try & get it to run smoother. My ATI is the Saphire 7950.
I drove the Formula A car on Brands. Only did about 6 laps. Changed the settings of the car a bit & was into the 1:06. So not to shabby. I then drove the Rnault Megane. & OMW what a ship. I really think that it really handles like that in real life.
I then drove the Merc GT# on Bathurst. track looks great & the car handled very well At this stage it is difficult for me to see what cars are arcady. I did have my setting on "pro" so no assists. But I need to play with it a bit more. Enjoyed it in the short time I played last night.

Awesome Gert, glad its working on your AMD...Hennie, it might be nice or it might not but it certainly is good in some areas and poor in others but its not bad.

GT3 cars feel nice for me, like the sound and feel mostly, still odd things but i like them, i did not like the formula a though, i way prefer GSCE formula rieza cars...but then Gert liked them so different feel for each guy.

Had the game a few days now.
One word comes to mind........Grid!
To me, not a real sim game by far. I'm not really a good driver, but it's not a game I look forward to playing every day. Feels too arcade.
The eye-candy graphics are pretty good though.
To each his own I suppose.

I haven't spend huge time with it but have played it on XBox One with Thrustmaster and my PC with G25 and I was left with the same feeling. It looks nice, it has a nice selection of cars and tracks, but where is all the physics SMS was bragging about? It feels like a Codemasters game to me.
