Re: ADAC GT Masters Season 1 ROUND 2 DAYTONA 22nd MARCH
We can't move the event.
No one knows if there will be load shedding next week as well.
All the racing is moved to 10:30 on Load shedding days.
It's beyond all our control.
Sorry.

Re: ADAC GT Masters Season 1 ROUND 2 DAYTONA 22nd MARCH
First of all - congrats to the podium guys and especially to Denis that won both races. Very good race pace at the front. Also well done to all that competed until after midnight...
Last night was the best racing that I have experienced - I felt like a child that got a new toy in terms of enjoyment and excitement
I was really happy with my race pace and I did not spun or make any rough mistakes. I did make a mistake when coming out of the pits in the 2nd race but I forgive myself for that because I was frustrated about apparent damage which added at least 18 seconds to my pit stops in both races. More of that later...From a result point of view not a good night at all, but the results are always a bonus for me. I am doing the simracing primarily because I enjoy it
Pitstop Damage
In both races my fuel and tyres were 27 seconds in total, but when I pitted I had the onscreen damage indicator that showed approx 40 seconds (I cant exactly remember if it was 40,42 or 44 seconds). I scrolled up and down on the HUD but could not find the normal option to switch off the repairs. The car was handling perfect and I did not need to do any damage repairs. In both races I could have had bodywork rubbing, but my laptimes proof that there was nothing wrong with the handling of the car. I also watched race2 replay in the pits to see how much time was spend above the tyres and fuel and it was approx 18 seconds. I therefor do not understand why the onscreen message was saying 40 seconds damage and then it really results in 18seconds damage repairs? I was so frustrated in race2 with this "damage" that it caused me to spun out at pit exit but that was purely frustration. I raced hard and fought hard and to see the guys going past is not nice especially if you don't understand why you have the damage and I did not have the option to turn off the damage repair.
TC and SC
Luckily Timo/Christo told me this week that most of the guys are using TC and SC and it changed the experience of the cars in a big way for me. I am not using the TC, but the SC is making a huge difference. These are the first cars that I have driven in GSC where I am faster with the "aids".

Well done to Denis! great pace there!
Tough race both times.
Race 1: not good start, game minimised to desktop twice, luckily the 1st when i was on the straight, but the 2nd time (i was p2, into the 1st corner barrier, 38 sec damage) :-( finished p13
Race 2. start was ok, long stint, picked up sum damage, 38 sec! again! finished p7.
must say damage is very high on this mod.

Re: ADAC GT Masters Season 1 ROUND 2 DAYTONA 22nd MARCH
I really enjoyed last nights racing. I'm slowly but surely getting to grips with the Z4 and the handling of these cars.
Thanks to Gary for the advice on the SC and TC. This really helped a lot. Thanks to Denis for all the driving tips and well done for the 2 race wins! You deserve it!
Unfortunately only ran race one due to the time lines, so a special thanks to ESKOM for that.
Had a good start and I think everyone did an amazing job the first corner. It's great to drive with considerate racers. Was under a lot of pressure from Dirk and he took the gap and passed me when I ran wide into the one corner. Great timing Dirk!
Pit stop went fine, but somewhere in the second part of the race, I think Christo spun and all of a sudden I was very close to him while braking for a corner. Then all of a sudden I lost front grip and under steered off the track. Aerodynamics upset due to dirty air? This also happened later the race, but at least I'm learning.
Happy with the position and that I'm at least in the middle of the pack after a lot of practise.
Well done Shawn on your podium for the 2nd race!

Re: ADAC GT Masters Season 1 ROUND 2 DAYTONA 22nd MARCH
Only did 7 laps in practice for this race due to PC issues and it showed!!!
Started at the back for both races and just tried my best to stay out of trouble. Got faster as the races went on but was way off pace really.
Finished in 10th and 9th.
Also, this car didn't like the track at all! Hopefully, next week will be a good one for me.
Thank you to all that took part and let's hope the load shedding stays away next week.
Well done to Denis who had a great evening with 2 good results and a word must be given to Shawn for a truly great podium in race 2. Well done guys.

Re: ADAC GT Masters Season 1 ROUND 2 DAYTONA 22nd MARCH
Lol…I was getting rather frustrated last night, lack of practice for sure, but even when the car set up felt fairly ok I was lacking badly in pace…realised just before race two that I had the wrong tyres on the car which obviously did not help matters…what a dork I am.
Race 1..Igot away quickly only to bump into Peter I think right off the line, apologies to you Peter, anyway, I got my just deserves by spinning….ended up being lapped, finishing in 14th, based on how my night was going that was an unexpected surprise…finish in the points.
Race 2 was a bit better, pitted early and just tried to salvage as many points as possible, a couple of ridiculous spins which got my blood boiling…ended up in 10th so not too bad even though I did not over take anyone.
Superb pace from Denis, congrats on taking the double
Regards,
Bret

Re: ADAC GT Masters Season 1 ROUND 2 DAYTONA 22nd MARCH
What a race meeting!
There were some really fast times in practice and i was expecting the times to tumble come qualifying and race but they never! So i managed to have just enough in hand to get 2 pole positions and 2 wins.
With Eskom playing trick with our power as usual...starting late caught me off guard a bit. The previous night i was up real ate practicing, then had a early start the following day...so when we were in the warmup for race 2 i suddenly realized just how tired i was! I almost fell asleep lol. So in race 2 i had to focus hard to try stay awake, and with 3 laps to go almost make a huge mistake into turn 1 just loosing focus and turning in a fraction early nearly hitting the pit wall! That was CLOSE!!! So after that i played it a little safe and brought it home! Sadly we were down a few drivers due to the late starts, hope to see all those that could not make it next week!
Well done to the podiums finishes, Reinhard and Eugene and Christo and a excellent podium for Shawn. Shawn always drives with a smart head and its nice to see the results from it.
Also a massive congrats to ALL the guys for 2 superb starts with no restarts needed! Nice to see at this level we can still keep it clean and fair. Excellent driving all thats what makes this such a good bunch of guys.
Big thank you to Shadow Racing for hosting this event.
Laser scanned tracks give us some good results, really feel the difference on them. See you all at the next one!

Re: ADAC GT Masters Season 1 ROUND 2 DAYTONA 22nd MARCH
I'm not gonna lie to you: I'm glad to see the back of this track. I've been complaining in the lead up to this event to all who would listen (and some who wouldn't ) that I. Do. NOT. Like. This. Track. I honestly believe that there is something wrong with the grip level on it, which causes my car to feel like a boat and not like a race car at all. It's not even that I'm slow on it, it's just the way it makes the car feel ruins the experience a bit for me. You don't "feel" like you're in a race.
Having said that however I do also recognize that it is the same for everyone and that we surely can't expect to love all tracks in the championship. How boring would that be?
I managed to qualify in 7th for both races, and Race 1 was going rather well up to lap 9, when I made it up to P4 when my tyres rapidly gave up on me and I spun - twice - before heading into the pits. Definitely a case of leaving it 1 lap too late. From there it was a fairly uneventful stint to the end to finish in an acceptable (given the circumstances) 8th.
Race 2 also went fairly well until lap 3 when I spun out of 5th place into the dreaded turn 1 in sympathy with Ryan. No contact (we were a few car lengths apart); he just spun and I simply got too excited at the prospect of making up a place ...and promptly followed him off. I was then stuck after the blind apex of turn 1 facing the wrong way and right in the way of a hapless Marius who had no way of seeing me in time and we collided head-on. So sorry about that Marius, your car must also have taken quite a knock from that. I limped around for a few more laps after that to try and avoid having to stop twice, and then pitted on my planned lap and chose not to repair the damage to the front of my car as it was still driveable, albeit 2 seconds off my usual pace. I followed Gus out of the pits and he was kind enough to make a slight mistake spinning on the pit exit road. From there I just coaxed the car home to a very surprising (and lucky) 5th.
Well done to all, especially to my great rival Shawn on another nice podium. Oh, and also a special congratulations to all for a nice clean start (from what I can see at least) in both races.
