Re: NIPPON CHALLENGE ROUND 4 ZANDVOORT 29th March
Sorry again Christo for the bump from behind in race 2 and thanks for accepting my apology.
Race 1:
Had an awesome dice with Dirk and Francois. Excellent driving guys!
Race 2:
Bumped into Christo and retired later on due to damage.
Well done to the top3 in both races and very well done Francois!
Hopefully I will be a bit more competitive next time around.

Well done to all the guys that participated.
Special mention has to go to Denis for two excellent races again. Hopefully we can give you some competition in the future
I really like this track - it is short, but it is very involving.
Thanks again to Kevin/Christo for all the "behind the scenes" work.

Re: NIPPON CHALLENGE ROUND 4 ZANDVOORT 29th March
Thanks to all once again for clean race starts on a particularly challenging track for starts.
Race 1 - I had good pace but had some trouble getting out of the pits with the pit boxes on this track being extremely tight. I tried pulling out, saw I was going to knock into the guy in front, then reversed some and tried again. But all in all I'm chuffed with 5th on this track - challenging, but so satisfying! I would like to think that, were it not for the mishap in the pits, I would MAYBE have been able to challenge Francois for that 4th. But then this track is not exactly easy to pass on...
Race 2 - Had bad luck in quali 2, but then luckily had a great start and made up some places. Then on lap 9 one of the dreaded curbs grabbed hold of me and threw me into a wall. I then pitted and because the car didn't feel all that bad decided not to repair damage. Again had issues with tight pits, this time on entry and exit. (I actually had to wait for the guy in the box behind mine to exit before I could enter - luckily it was only for a couple of seconds.) I rejoined in front of Shawn, and managed to no doubt frustrate him for 4 laps but my car's damage became more and more apparent until lap 15 when it was like driving a shopping trolley on oiled ice while drunk and handcuffed. I made the inevitable mistake and he got past. After this I gooi'd full TC to at least try and keep it on the island for the last couple of laps, but even with TC it was still very ..uhm.. entertaining to drive. Christo was about 15 secs behind when I intitially made the mistake, and I was watching that gap decrease with a hawk's eye. The finish line couldn't come soon enough, and by the end he was less than 3 secs behind. So again I'm quite pleased with that 7th, given the circumstances.

Re: NIPPON CHALLENGE ROUND 4 ZANDVOORT 29th March
I have to say i really enjoyed this track. I struggled a bit with traction and for the first time decided to use low tc and sc. At some point i tried it off again but my setup just did not work with them off.
Quali 1 i was on the 2nd flyer of my first run and caught up to Christo on the straight getting a nice tow..and did a 1:20.3 thinking that was good enough for pole but in my second run on a clear run i managed a pb of 1:20.1.
Race 1 i had a good start, but with low tire pressures i had to wait alap for them to get up to temp and Ryan was all over me but i managed to hold him off then pulled away for a nice win.
Quali 2 the pace was hotter. Ryan had a 1:20.3, Gustav a 1:20.4, Eugene a 1:20.6 so i was pressured to do another good lap...and managed to get a 1:20.2 but just did not have the feel from quali 1.
Race 2 i had another good start and once again had to fight off Ryan while waiting for the tires to warm up...but he cam up the inside mid lap so decided to play if safe and tuck in behind him. Problem was...passing was real hard and to make a clean pass was very difficult. On lap 7 we caught up to 2 cars fighting it out. As we caught sight of them mid lap i straight away knew i had lost1.5 to 2 seconds a lap when i caught cars in race 1 so saw my chance to undercut Ryan on the pit stops. So dived into the pits...got a decent stop and came out in clear air and was able to push. After the pit stops took place for the other i was in a clear lead having gain a good gap from my pit stop timing.
Well done to all the guys on 2 excellent starts. Once again the guys show how we can even on tight tracks like this have good clean starts, amazing stuff guys! Thanks for Shadowracing for this event.
Looks like this is going to be a hard championship...the guys are real fast right now! Well done to all, some nice fights in the field. Well done to the other podium finishes, Eugene, Ryan and Gustav well driven guys!

Re: NIPPON CHALLENGE ROUND 4 ZANDVOORT 29th March
Tough racing....
Not an easy track to relax on as shown by the number of accidents.
Race 1.
Got off to a slowish start and with drivers making mistakes along the way, managed to climb positions until 7th before my pit stop. On my in lap to pit, I was hit from behind which cost 23 seconds to repair, dropping me way back. With cars crashing out, I managed to again reach 7th where I finished.
Race 2.
Went much better this time. I didn't pit too late and was surprised to find myself in 5th!
Just kept going as fast as possible, keeping an eye on Shawn and co behind me.
Managed to cross the line in 5th and very happy with that result.
Thank you all for taking part. See you next Sunday.

Well done on that 5th Kevin. No mean feat on this track! It looks like from now on Francois, Timo, Shawn and I have another challenger to worry about in the mid-pack!
