Re: NIPPON CHALLENGE ROUND 2 ROAD AMERICA 8th March
Thanks to all for one of the most fun race events I've had in a while. And besides all the regulars at the top, special congrats to Ken on his excellent podium. Well deserved, mate. Also well done to Kevin and Shawn. You guys had great pace and managed to keep it on the black stuff, which turned out to be kinda important on this track!
R1 was very eventful for me, with no less than 4 offs, and in every single one I had no one to blame but myself. I however count myself extremely lucky to have kept it out of the gravel on each occasion, and I ended up with a fortunate but satisfying 4th. I was left with an overwhelming feeling of "what if".
R2 I had a good start, and was relishing the prospect of a good fight with Ken for 5th when I got on the gas too quickly in one of those dreaded sharp lefts, and I spun around facing into traffic. This of course meant I had to wait for almost the entire field to pass, putting me back into 16th. From there it was always going to be a recovery effort, which was a lot of fun at least. In the end Francois, Gus, myself & Eugene were in very close company indeed as we crossed the line. I'm not even sure exactly which position I ended up in (8th maybe?), but it doesn't matter. It was FUN!
More of that, please...

Congrats to Christo and Ryan for good consistent driving in both races. Ken, well done on your podium finish!
I had an eventful evening... Somehow I struggled to find any rhythm and my lap times were not close to what I have practised on race fuel. I managed a third position in race1 but my lap times were not good at all
Race2 I spun off 3 times (my own faults) and managed to end in 7th. Hopefully I will learn from these mistakes
I enjoyed the track and I like the handling of these cars.
Looking forward to the next one...

Gentleman, I thank you all for your accolades.
It was a really enjoyable evening of racing.
My first podium yes, but a number of key drivers were not there, but i'll take it any way I can....
Shaun kept me very honest for the best part of the race with his relentless effort and pace, as we had both pitted at the same time and exited the pits together with him getting out ahead of me.
Great racing Shaun....and thank you!
Kevin I do hope your flu abates soon so you and I can collectively kick butt in the following races....
