Re: SGT500 CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 1 OKAYAMA 7th JAN
Wow this is going to be a season and a half with all the entries received so far, the quick lap times and the dedication going into practice.
All the best to each and everyone who entered, may you have enjoyable races throughout the season.
These cars have launch control for the start making the pull away easier. Remember to be careful the first corner and first lap with cold tyres.
See you all on track tomorrow night - enjoy...........
Launch Control:
1. Get the car to the grid, keep it in neutral.
2. Press the forward slash (/) key and keep it in.
3. Just before the lights go green start revving the car.
4. The car will engage 1st gear and rev around 5000 rpm.
5. As soon as the lights go green, release the / key.
6. Off you go in a straight line.
7. The car will be in automatic box mode until you brake for the first time.

RIAAN VAN DER WESTHUIZEN
HI Kevin. It seems if I batel to get my car booked for tomorrow race. I would like to book the Nissan GT-R 2009 VanZan Racing team car. If not maybe the Pace car that way I might get to the front runners.

They will both work. The game uses the players name for data.
Re: SGT500 CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 1 OKAYAMA 7th JAN
Well? Such a great race and no comments yet? Verba volant (on Mumble), scripta manent
I only managed to proprly install my gfx card minutes before R2, so I joined just for fun. These cars are absolutely brilliant, well balanced but stil tricky to drive fast.
It was great to see such a big field, including some very fast (bavarian) newcomers There´s enough opposition for every skill level and one doesn´t get bored for sure!
Without any practice I knew I wouldn´t be able to go anywhere near the front runners, still I enjoyed a good battle in the midfield. Having said that, even with practice I´m not at all sure I would have shaved 3 seconds off my pace
It´s a busy phase for me with a new job and a baby coming and maybe a move to a new house, so I´ll just take the events as they come, sometimes with more preparation, sometimes with less...
Razor suggested yesterday that we enable TC & LC. On the contrary, I hope that at least we PRO drivers keep them disabled. These cars are nervous, but the fun part of it is to control them, and I think we all have the skills to do it without assistance. Enabling it would mean everybody uses it to shave the last tenths, but it would reduce the fun of driving these cars imho...

Re: SGT500 CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 1 OKAYAMA 7th JAN
I for one am very chuffed to be driving in this series... as Mr KK mentioned, enabling the TC would merely shave a few tenths but with that would also remove that edge that make these cars so brilliant.
I have accepted Denis' gratitude for the gift I Bestowed upon him last night in race 1. (For those in the dark... I spun on the last corner of the last lap to hand him the victory). Regardless of my very gifting nature, Denis actually drove a much better race than I and surely deserved the win.
Apologies to Ken Hunter for the tangle in the "Blue Flag" stage... it's not easy to try and battle with the guy in front and yet have to oblige a blue flag and to top it all, at the worst possible corner on the track - hairpin right before the pit entry. Sorry for that buddy.
Race 2 had me qualified in 5th but got an excellent launch again and made up 2 places to 3rd where I remained untill the end. RaZoR did give me a nudge at the haipin at the end of the back straight which sent me spinning backwards into the litter but I got my due justice when he duly obliged to become a ballerina and perform what is called a double pirouette, 2 corners later handing me back my 3rd position.
All in all, what a fantastic event and looking forward to the next one.
P.S. the bavarians are looking super sleek, but they've only shown us how much pace we are actually leaving on the table. SA..... time to get back in the game

Re: SGT500 CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 1 OKAYAMA 7th JAN
What a great meeting. I have to say this car and this track feel a little off the standard. From driving these awesome cars on other tracks, the grip levels here felt rather low to me and fuel consumption was extremely low too.
But...even though i love this track but not this version of it it was a blast last night. I came into this round expecting to be fighting to stay on the podium and squeezed a lucky win in race 1 and a P2 in race 2. Race 1 was for my weekend highlight...Migs and I had such a awesome dice all the way to the pit stops and that was totally enjoyable. At points i was cursing inside my helmet, other points praying it carried on all race haha. Great driving in race 1 Migs, i really enjoyed that race!
Race 2, Reinhard had a great start and just edged away. My race pace was what i expected with my setup, but i had no answer to his great race pace. Perhaps the next round's tracks i can challenge, but just had no answer here lol.
What a excellent sized field too, and still a few guys that did not join that i know could of, so i see this becoming a very strong field.
Regarding TC or even LC, my LC worked just perfectly, TC is off but managed ok with it. I feel if these cars had no aids in real life then thats how we should drive them, if they did have then we too should have. If it makes us a tenth or so faster well we all go faster then so it evens out...but...it does then make it more enjoyable for the guys that are struggling.
Looking forward to the next round, sorry Gary had issues as soon as the races started he got kicked...possibly due to a app he is running so next meeting hope you are back Gary!

For me both races was great! First time in these monster cars, not an easy track but survived.
Very very enjoyable. Thanks Denis for introducing me to this GREAT game mate, and this GREAT community!

Re: SGT500 CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 1 OKAYAMA 7th JAN
Firstly, thank you to all the drivers who joined us for the racing. You guys make us what we are.
Now to the racing....
I was a bit worried about the server running a big field for the first time etc. so I was somewhat off the pace. Won't happen again! Also, when I pitted, a car was in my pit box and I had to wait for them to leave before changing tires. Put me way back to last.
Second race, came around a corner to be faced with a car facing the wrong way in the middle of the road. Needless to say, bang. race over.
Thank you Ken for the great dice we had going for some laps. You had me sweating.
AS FOR T/C and S/C
We will NOT use them. This is a sim and we feel the cars go well enough without them. We have ALWAYS driven them with no aids. The aids are off in the car files, so never mind what the server says.
See you all next week at FUJI

Re: SGT500 CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 1 OKAYAMA 7th JAN
Agreed these cars don't need TC or brake assist. Launch control is a mist must but seeing as no passing allowed before the first corner L/C is probably to ensure everyone takes off at the same pace and nobody does ballet off the line and causes a field pile up.
Speaking of which I got caught out by a spinning car ahead of me in race 1 but I had a great time clawing back from 13 to finish 5th.
Second race was not as interesting started 6th finished 6th.
I spent the majority of both races trying to catch RaZoR in vain...
Great turnout and good race. My first league race with this sim so happy to finish both races.
I do agree with Denis the cars felt a bit off on this track compared to e.g. Bathurst before.
@Kevin I am pretty sure you were behind me when you hit that car. I was wondering why you suddenly disappeared, pity. I just avoided it thankfully.
