Endurance Racing - 8 November 2014

Had to many tangles for my liking. Was a good race.

Thanks for the great event guys! Seriously wasn't expecting a win! Did a few practice laps on Friday, thought a one stop strategy would be the best option. Qualified 6th and was aiming for a podium at best. The restart had me back down the field in 13th. Slowly picked my way through the field, watched some unfortunate quick drivers fall out, kept telling myself to just keep a decent average pace and keep it clean. But on lap 5 i spun into the wall at the right hander leading onto the main straight, nose first - limped back to the pits - 48 sec damage dropped me back down to 8th. Slowly started to claw some places back, but knew that a podium was going to be wishful thinking. Eventually I was in 3rd place with Simrace 5 and Christo way way ahead. Simrace 5 pitted and i got 2nd, kept my eye on the tyres and kept going knowing that they were my main rival as Christo was running a similar pace but maintaining his gap. Decided to go long into Lap 17 and then a splash and dash to the finish. Jumped into the pits, on exit of the pits sim race 5 squeezed up on the inside and took the 2nd back, they were pushing hard but I knew he would have to stop again and that I needed to just maintain a close gap to them. When Christo had an unfortunate incident causing him to have a lengthy stop, Sim race took the lead and I was not far behind, this gave me a chance to reevaluate my pace and a win was on the cards! Nerves set in when i took the lead from Sim race 5 when they pitted... not sure what happened to them but Christo pulled back up to second and was chomping away the 38 sec lead i had on him, i just kept telling myself to take it calm. Then on the last lap... the same corner leading onto the pit straight I had a screen freeze which was enough to send me into the wall again! 38 sec gap was now under 30! OMG! The car showed damage but I just nursed it home - phew! thanks to all the guys (and gal) was good to be online again I hope my car wasnt floating around your screen as my line is atrocious.... (Turned out the screen freeze was my scheduled system back-up!) Hope to see you guys at spa!
